Community Guidelines

NoneKnows is built on anonymity, honesty, and trust. These guidelines exist to keep our community safe and meaningful. Anonymity is a privilege — not a shield for harm. We take violations seriously.

Sharing personal confessions, secrets, and experiences anonymously
Expressing feelings and thoughts you can't share elsewhere
Supporting others through empathetic reactions and comments
Building an honest, judgment-free community
Discussing difficult topics in a safe, anonymous environment

1. No threats or harassment

Anonymity does not give you the right to threaten or harass others.

Threats of violence against any person or group
Targeted harassment of specific individuals
Bullying, intimidation, or repeated unwanted contact
Encouraging others to harass someone

2. No hate speech

Content that dehumanizes people based on protected characteristics is not allowed.

Hate speech targeting race, ethnicity, or national origin
Hate speech targeting religion or belief
Hate speech targeting gender or sexual orientation
Hate speech targeting disability or age
Use of slurs to attack people

3. No self-harm promotion

We care about your wellbeing. Content that promotes or glorifies self-harm is strictly prohibited.

Encouraging suicide or self-harm in others
Sharing methods of self-harm
Glorifying eating disorders
Content designed to trigger vulnerable people

4. No sexual content involving minors

This is an absolute zero-tolerance rule. Any content that sexually exploits or endangers minors will result in immediate account termination and will be reported to the appropriate authorities including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

5. No doxxing or privacy violations

Respect everyone's privacy — including people you know in real life.

Sharing someone's real name, address, phone, or email without consent
Revealing someone's location or workplace to harm them
Sharing private images or information without consent
Attempting to identify other anonymous NoneKnows users

6. No illegal content

Content that facilitates or promotes illegal activity
Buying, selling, or trading illegal goods or services
Content that violates copyright or intellectual property law
Fraud, scams, or deceptive content

7. No spam or manipulation

Repetitive posts or spam
Coordinated mass reporting to silence users
Creating multiple accounts to evade bans
Using bots or automated tools
Advertising or commercial promotion

⚖️ Consequences of violations

STEP 1 Content removal — violating posts are removed without notice

STEP 2 Auto-hide — posts with 5+ reports are automatically hidden from the community

STEP 3 Account termination — repeated violations result in permanent ban

STEP 4 Law enforcement referral — illegal content (especially CSAM) is reported to authorities immediately

See something that violates these guidelines? Tap the 🚩 flag icon on any confession in the app. Select the reason that best describes the violation. We review all reports and take action within 48 hours for serious violations.
