Terms of Service

By using NoneKnows, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Eligibility — Age requirement
⚠️ You must be at least 18 years old to use NoneKnows. In countries where the age of majority is higher than 18, you must meet that higher age requirement. By using this app, you confirm that you meet the age requirement in your jurisdiction.
If you are under 18 years of age, you are not permitted to use NoneKnows under any circumstances. We do not knowingly allow minors to use our service. If we discover a user is underage, their account will be terminated immediately.
2. Who we are
NoneKnows ("we", "us", "our") operates the NoneKnows mobile application. We provide an anonymous platform for sharing confessions. Contact us at support@noneknows.com.
3. Your account
NoneKnows uses a unique anonymous identity system. Instead of an email and password, your account is secured by:
- A 5-word recovery phrase generated on your device
- A 4-digit PIN you choose
- An anonymous handle you select
You are responsible for keeping your recovery phrase and PIN safe. We cannot recover your account if you lose these. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use NoneKnows only for lawful purposes. You must not post content that:
- Is illegal under applicable law
- Threatens, harasses, or bullies any person
- Promotes or glorifies violence or self-harm
- Contains hate speech based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality
- Sexually exploits or harms minors in any way
- Contains pornographic or sexually explicit material
- Reveals private information about another person without consent (doxxing)
- Impersonates another person or entity
- Contains spam, advertisements, or commercial solicitation
- Violates the intellectual property rights of others
- Facilitates or encourages illegal activity
5. Content you post
You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant NoneKnows a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute your content within the app.
You are solely responsible for your content. NoneKnows is not responsible for user-generated content under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (US).
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms without notice.
6. Content moderation
We use a combination of automated systems and user reports to moderate content:
- Confessions receiving multiple reports are automatically hidden
- We review reported content and may permanently remove it
- Accounts that repeatedly violate these Terms may be terminated
- We are not obligated to moderate all content or notify you before removal
7. Prohibited activities
You must not:
- Attempt to reverse engineer or hack the app
- Use automated scripts or bots to post content
- Attempt to identify other anonymous users
- Interfere with the app's operation or servers
- Circumvent any content filters or moderation systems
- Create multiple accounts to evade bans
- Attempt to access other users' accounts
8. Anonymity disclaimer
While NoneKnows is designed to protect your anonymity, we cannot guarantee complete anonymity in all circumstances. Law enforcement may compel us to provide any data we hold. Since we store no personally identifiable information, there is very little we can provide even if compelled.
Do not use NoneKnows to commit crimes or harm others under the assumption of complete anonymity.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
NoneKnows is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Use the app at your own risk.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, NoneKnows shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to damages for lost data, lost revenue, or emotional distress.
Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed $100 USD.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NoneKnows and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the app, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to NoneKnows at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
Since accounts are anonymous, termination means the associated anonymous ID will be blocked from the service.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the United States. If you are located outside the US, you agree to comply with all local laws regarding online content and acceptable use.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
